Custom bed frame:

Deciding between buying a custom bed or buying a manufactured custom bed is tough. But you might not have to make such a decision when there is another choice available. You can build one bed all by yourself!

Doesn’t the idea sound to appeal to you? Making a bed by yourself may be tedious but is a rewarding experience, nonetheless. Bed frames are easy to make as well with all the parts known you can calibrate them according to the size of the room you wish to place them in.

The most basic parts of a custom bed in clue the headboard, a footboard, two side wooden slats, four wooden feet to support the frame, and two to three wooden rails and slats to support the mattress weight.

To be fair all the bed frames are similar in the basics. You will have to choose the style, finish, and colour or any other accessories to go with it to make a custom bed frame. There are a lot of bed sizes in the market so you might think that it may change the manufacturing process, but it is not so all the sizes are and can be made similarly.

Before diving into the process of it all make sure you have all the required things and tools with you. Building a bed frame is a complex process and it is recommended to have the right tools with you. Having the right tools will make your work easier and faster. Also, have extra screws or blades with you in case of any unforeseen event you can have them changed at any time.

When talking about bed frame sizes you might think that they are of the bed frame, but the sizes are of the mattress instead on whose basis the bed frame sizes are named. So, if you wish for a king-sized bed then you will get a king-sized mattress and would have to design your bed 2 to 3 inches bigger than the mattress frame. This is done so that the mattress does not scrape during fitting, and it also makes it easier to put sheets on it.

Next on our list comes the material. The bed frame can be made up of plastic, metal, and wood. The easiest to work with is wood. It is easier to obtain, and you can measure and cut. The tools for this can be obtained from local shops too.

You can choose from two types of wood. Softwood and hardwood, if you choose softwood then take a plank larger in its width and length to make sure it lasts longer because of its softer consistency these are easier to scratch and break. In the case of hardwood, they are better suited for furniture because they are strong and durable, but they are not hard as softwood, the name is because of their durability.

Next is the bed height, the easiest way to find that is to make it so that when you sit the knees align with your body. If you are high then the bed is higher if the body is lower than the knees then the bed is low. It might be an issue for a couple of different heights, but the basic standard height is twenty-five inches above the ground.
