A lot of people feel fear and nervousness when offering a public speech in front of a crowd. People are not born with the skills of public speaking they need to work hard to develop some unique traits that can help them deliver effective public speaking.  Glossophobia is the word to represent the fear of public speaking, it’s not a disease and you can easily overcome this problem by practicing regularly.

Here are some ways to become a fearless and confident public speaker.

    Script it out:

The first thing to make sure of is to write the complete speech on a piece of paper and try to practice as many times as you can. This will help you become more fluent and confident in presenting your speech. Once you script out your speech then you will be able to identify all the important points that you want to present in front of the crowd. Just practice more so that you don’t need to read a script in front of the audience.

    Record yourself:

It’s not possible to present your speech and listen to it at the same time. This is physically impossible but you can record your speech while you are practicing, this will help you to observe your body language along with your delivery style. Recoding your speech will allow you to identify the mistakes in your speech and you will get the time to improve the faults and mistakes in your speech.

    Get honest critique:

Before presenting your speech in front of the crowd, ask for help from your friends or family members. Try to deliver your speech in front of the first and ask them to provide feedback about your speech. This can feel awkward but once your friends provide you honest feedback then you will get a chance to surface problems and fix them before your actual speech.

    Practice:

“There are certain things in which mediocrity is not to be endured, such as poetry, music, painting, and public speaking,” said Jean de la Bruyere, a French philosopher and moralist, who was noted for his satire.

If you have fear or nervousness about how your speech will go, this is because of the lack of confidence. To overcome these situations try to write your entire speech on a piece of paper and practice as many times as you can to get a hold of it. This will allow you to present your speech more fluently and you will be able to gain your confidence. Practice can help you become perfect.
