An energy report is an analysis of the current energy usage of your home, office, or any other property. It highlights areas that can be improved to decrease your usage and the cost of your energy bills. It also highlights ways to save money on your energy bills.

In case you are not aware, energy consumption has been increasing, and something has to be done to keep the consumption in control. Not only does it increase the bills, but most importantly, it has negatively affected the environment.

It is one of the essential parts of a home report and it is required to submit the energy report when it comes to selling a house in the country of Scotland.

Why Are Energy Reports So Important?

One of the reasons why these energy reports are crucial is pretty simple. It’s because homeowners are going to be mandated to meet the required energy rating, which is based on the house they live in. This is required by the National Construction Code and is applied to all of the states of Australia.

Mainly, there are three methods from which energy rating is determined. One of the most comprehensive and extensively used methods is “NatHERS”. It refers to Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme”.

Apart from the current regulations that have been set, the importance to reduce energy consumption is going to become more prevalent, particularly from the year 2022. It is being expected that more strict requirements will come into place.

As of now, below are the requirements, which need to be followed.

    Requirements

In Victoria, Australia, any home built after 2013 must have a 6-star home energy rating. Compliance with the Victorian Building Authority requirements is managed by a building certifier, who is licensed and overseen by the VBA.

Talking about Queensland, Australia, it requires that for all new homes built after 2010, the minimum energy efficiency rating is 6 stars.

What Exactly Does An Energy Report Usually Measure?

There is a widespread misconception that an energy report calculates how green a home is. Furthermore, it’s generally believed that there are many factors used to determine this like the use of solar power, rainwater tanks, and other wider considerations for sustainable living. You should know that there is simply more to an energy report than what you think.

It mainly looks at the cooling and heating requirements of a home, which are referred to as mechanical cooling and heating loads. It has very little to do with things like add-on considerations like solar water.

With that being said, let’s wrap up the article right here with the above-mentioned information.
