    English – Building blocks for a child’s future

    The English language plays a vital role in our lives as it helps in communication. It is the main language to study any subject anywhere in the world. English is important for students as it broadens their minds, develops emotional skills and improves quality of life by providing job opportunities.

    Additionally, the use of English as an international language is growing over time, as it is the only means of communication in many countries. English is also widely used in the literature and media section to publish books, most writers write in English because the vast majority of readers only know the English language and can describe their ideas better in this language only.

    These days, more and more people are spending time studying English as a second language. No one, especially in a work environment, can expect not to know this universal language. And, to prepare for the unforgiving work environment, start early. It would not be wrong to say that English dominates the field of learning and research. Not only this field, English has become a basic language of communication. Learning the English language from an early age helps children build and shape their future holistically. With the introduction of after-school programmes, it has become easier for children to acquire literacy skills. It is better for children to learn the English language in their early childhood sessions for their holistic development.

    Importance of learning English

    It is important for children to understand and learn how to speak English as this language is very useful all over the world. Learning and speaking the English language from early childhood education can change the lives of children in many ways.

    1. Facilitates communication- a student meets thousands of people from all walks of life. A good command of English helps them communicate with others in the most impactful way.
    2. Build Confidence- A student or professional who knows English is full of confidence. It adds to the personality.
    3. Helps Seize Life’s Opportunities- No company would hire someone who lacks English communication skills. A thorough knowledge of this language is considered a basic requirement for any position. Therefore, to avail a good opportunity, a student must know English.
    4. Helps improve teaching skills- Once a student is fluent in English, there are no barriers to prevent them from learning more and being more educated. All types of courses and lessons are conducted in English.
    5. This facilitates study trips- Students wishing to pursue higher education in a foreign country must learn English. A student who knows English well can travel to any corner of the world for higher studies.
    6. Access to several cultures- Although this point was mentioned above, it does not degrade its value. Yes, exposure to new cultures and thoughts is a game changer. You won’t even know the most amazing and exotic aspects of your life, the lives of humans all over the world, unless you read something they wrote.
    7. Access to information on the Internet- Learning English is important because it allows everyone to access more than half of the content on the Internet. Knowing how to read English allows people to access billions of pages with tons of information that would otherwise not be available.

    Parents and educators should ensure that their children read and speak the English language so that they can communicate with everyone everywhere. The English language breaks down the communication barrier as it is the most widely spoken language in the world. There are many after school programmes that help kids take English lessons to give them a head start on literacy skills.

    Kumon, an afterschool program which helps kids to gain literacy and numeracy skills by instilling self-learning skills as well.
